I’m glad you found your way here. You have arrived at what I like to think of as a mansion of stories, mysteries, yes and secrets. We can peek in together as we push back this heavy old wooden door—hear it creak.
But first, who am I and what do I like to do? I like to play–with words, with music, with friends, with life. I did some serious studying at UC Berkeley–Intellectual History, and then came the Viet Nam war. As I saw my school friends being shipped overseas, play turned deadly serious–a path to survival. I began listening to stories, writing stories, living stories as a way to earn a deep connection to this baffling life. This drew me into the theology, into psychoanalysis, psychological astrology, into theatre, film and television. The old boarders and boundaries seem to wobble and shift. Stories help to ground our lived experience and keep us connected. When my children were young I I created and hosted a national Canadian children’s television show called Blue Rainbow.
Punctuating tales with harp and other instruments, I created Stories for All Seasons, four world stories linking us to our environment.
And I’ve always been curious about the meaning in our lives. After all, what is a life that has no meaning? And so Waiting for Sophie developed.
Poems began to spill out, especially by the light of the stars, the planets, the Moon. And so Moon Musings developed.
There’s another rich source of stories–dreams. And so I travelled to Zurich Switzerland, home of Carl Jung, and the Institute he founded. There I encountered a diverse group of Jungian Analysts who shared their life stories in a documentary I call Spirituality, Dreams and Nightmares.
And who gets through this life without encounting some very Complicated Truths. The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know and the hungrier I grow for a deeper experience of life! I would love to hear your stories, your poems, music and pictures. This is an opportunity for us to play together. This Mansion of Stories is a work in progress, as am I. Welcome, and enjoy.
